Monday!!

Another week begins and I hope that I can carry the momentum from last week through. I managed to drop 4 pounds last week, part of that being water weight from last weekend. I am feeling good and starting to notice a couple places on my body that are showing signs of not-fat.

I ran W5D1 of the C25K program last night. This week is relly a ramp up in the duration of the jogging segments of the runs with the last run of the week being 20 minutes straight with no walking. That will be a real test. Also, I will be running it in New York on vacation, and there are some big hills in that area. so it might be extra hard.

Just a Walk in the Park

This whole weightloss thing has actually been very enjoyable. From trying new healthy recipes to finding fun outdoor things to do with Andrea. Today we went for a nice walk along the river in Findlay. There is a path that runs from Riverside PArk all the way to Main Street along the river, and it is about 2.5 miles to go from the park to downtown.

We went to the park and had a small picnic then left the car and went for out 2.5 to 3 miles walk downtown. When we returned to the park, we bought ourselves a frozen treat from the stand there as a reward. It was a great day.

Friday!!

So another Friday is here and I am going to resist the temptations this time. I will not drink too much tonight. I will continue the great week I have had so far. I will stay healthy.

this week has gone very good so far. I have finally gotten through the plateau I was at and I have started dropping weight again. It had been so long since I updated the ticker at the top that I forgot how to do it. Luckily it came back like riding a bike. Hopefully I will get to change it again soon.

Tonight I have a run scheduled that will finish up Week 4 of the C25K program from Cool Running, a great site that is really the only way that I would still be attempting to run. Running has never worked for me in the past but I think it may have a shot this time thanks to the information and community at Cool Running. If you are looking to start getting in shape and take up running, then check it out. The discussion forums have something for everyone.

Mile Stones!

Yesterday was the 100th day of my diet. I completely missed that while I was locked out of my house giving blood to save the lives of hungry insects all over the world.

So at 100 days I have lost 50 pounds. So if I could continue losing at this pace I will get to my goal of 200 lbs in another 100 days. That would put me at November 3rd of this year. I can live with that. Of course, I don't plan to continue losing at this pace. Most of that weight was lost early on in the diet and was probably water weight. But I do continue to lose and I do continue to change my life for the better.

100 days ago, I would spend probably 70 hours a week in front of a computer. 40 hours at work and another 30 at home playing internet poker, while I drank a few beers and ate a few chips.

Today I still spend the majority of my work day in front to the screen but I have cut down on my computer usage outside of work and try to make sure that I get my exercise in every night. I do have slips and I do have falls along the way. I have been known to get drunk and eat a whole large pizza. I will skip my workout. But I continue to improve and move towards being the healthy, fit person that I know I can be.

Running just seems to be the next step in this progression towards fitness. With money the way it is right now, I don't see myself joining a gym, or taking any classes. I just can't afford it. Running is cheap, all I need is a pair of shoes and a road. (Plus the occasional entry fee for a race, and I hope lots of them actually.)

I will be racing my first 5k this fall. I will finish in under 30 minutes. I will also get to my goal weight by April 18th, 2007. That is not my goal date but will be the one year anniversary of the start of this diet. I plan to reach 200 sometime around the new Year and I will be extremely happy if I can maintain it through next Easter.

Need to Focus!!

Andrea is staying up at school again tonight so that we can save some gas and so she can get some sleep. That means I have the whole house to myself, so it will be extra hard to stay motivated and get everything done that I want to. But I have compiled a list and plan to get everything on it completed before she returns home tomorrow night. Wish me luck!!

So I wrote all of the post above before getting home from work today. When I got home I started working on completing my list and I was actually moving along quite well. I decided it was time for my run at about 8:00 and I headed out of the house. The run went well, I was able to complete it and I went further than on Monday. I could tell I was running a little faster than last time.

When I returned home from my run, I walked up to the door, turned the knob and walked inside attempted to turn the knob and realized that the door was locked. Oh Crap!!!

I attempted to jimmy the lock with the spatula form my grill outside and realized that all I was accomplishing was tearing up my door frame nicely. Eventually I went next door and used my neighbors phone to call Andrea, who was supposed to be spending the night with friends tonight.

She finally answered after several calls and I explained the situation to her and she headed home to let me in.

So I waited on my deck for an hour while she was on her way form Toledo. By the time she arrived, I had counted 27 mosquito bites!! Ouch!!

I did manage to get my run in so I guess the most important things are complete. Now I just have to repaint my door jam some time. Great!!

Where have you been Fatty?

I will tell you...just hold on a minute.

I was kind of off the diet for close to a week. I left for a business trip on Wednesday Morning, returned Friday afternoon, left Saturday for a wedding and come back late on Sunday. With 8 hours worth of delays with the flights I was on and other things, it became very difficult to keep track of my calories and after the first day I gave up.

But I am getting back on track today. I am determined to lose more weight and I will get my run in tonight. I will get it done. I will be back later tonight with my calorie count for the day.

Cool Runnings!!

What a great movie and one of John Candy's last. He is missed.

But other than a great movie it is a website for runners. Coolrunning.com. I learned about it from a comment on BSN's weight loss blog. On Coolrunning.com they have a beginners workout schedule called Couch to 5K in 9 weeks. That sounds great for me. I have been looking into running for a while, but never had a real plan. Diet Vacation

So I took a small unscheduled vacation from my diet. The vacation started on Saturday and went through the 4th. It wasn't that I was binge eating or anything, I just told myself that I was going to relax and not worry about counting calories, or keeping up on my blogs, or weighing in.

I wanted to refocus and I think I have done that. I am back and ready to drop the rest of this weight that has been plaguing me for years.
